FAQs

  1. Auto Glass

We can service all of your glass repair and replacement needs!

Is windshield repair covered by my insurance company?

Yes, if you have comprehensive coverage, windshield damage is covered by your plan. It doesn't matter whether the damage was caused by vandalism, road debris or an angry ex-girlfriend—your only expense will be your deductible. Many people are very surprised by how low their deductibles are—often times they are less than $100 for comprehensive (non-collision) repairs.

Where do I bring my vehicle for glass repair or replacement and how long will it take?

You have two choices, you can either bring your vehicle to our local facility here in Greensboro, NC or we can come to you!  The whole process shouldn't take more than an hour, however we highly recommend that you don't drive for 2-3 hours after the installation so that the urethane seal will have plenty of time to cure. Your technician will give you an estimated drive-away time based on weather conditions and materials used.

What will a windshield or glass repair look like when it is finished?

We can usually restore somewhere between 75% and 95% of the optical clarity to the damaged area.

Can DeDona Auto Glass bill my insurance company directly?

Yes we can! We are participating members of all of the major insurance company glass claims programs. We can call your insurance company for you and help walk you through the process of setting up your insurance glass claim.

Is it really important to have a crack, chip or ding in my windshield fixed immediately?

The answer is yes, it is very important to fix a crack or ding in your windshield immediately. If the ding is small, it may be repairable. The windshield can be "mended" without replacing the entire windshield. These types of repairs can typically take approximately 30 minutes. In some cases, the insurance company will waive the deductible on repair service, so it's free to you! But the longer you let the damage remain without having it fixed, the more dirt and debris will collect in the break - and the more the break will spread. If it gets too big, it's very likely that a replacement will be necessary.

Another reason to fix a crack or ding in the windshield right away is for safety reasons. The windshield is more than just a "shield" from wind and road dirt, it's an important structural element of the car. It helps keep you and your passengers in the car in a front impact accident, and keeps your car's airbag in the optimum position so it can function as designed. If your windshield is weakened due to damage, it could be dangerous to you and your passengers in the event of an accident. Also, damaged glass may cause optical impediments when driving, particularly at night, which is a significant safety hazard.

  2. Audio

DeDona Tint and Sound can answer all of your questions!

I own a newer model vehicle and really like my factory stereo but would like to add a CD changer, do I have to go to the dealership?

Not at all! It is fairly easy to add an aftermarket CD changer or MP3 player to any vehicle (and it's a lot more economical than going to the dealership). Many of our CD changers and new MP3 hard drive devices (like the Kenwood Music Keg) can be hooked up to a simple RF modulator that will broadcast your music via a set FM station on your stereo (usually 89.1). Most of them come with the modulator that you need and a wired remote with display (or sometimes even a wireless remote). Those that do not can be used with an RF mod that you purchase separately. That way you can keep your factory stereo and get mass music storage without a trip to the dealership.

How much power does it take to get good bass from my subs?

When matching up an amplifier to a subwoofer, it's important to look at continuous power. Many subwoofers and amplifiers are rated at both continuous and peak power; however, continuous power is the best indicator of what your gear can really handle. Try to match the continuous (or RMS) power rating of the sub to an amplifier with a similar continuous (or RMS) power rating. Err on the side of too much power. It is actually better (for the amp and the sub) to have too much amp and run it below its maximum output than to try and push a sub with an amp that is a little underpowered. Using an underpowered amp causes it to clip, which causes distortion that can damage your sub and amp.

How much power does a factory stereo produce?

It varies from model to model and trim level to trim level. They are normally much less powerful than their aftermarket cousins, however. Recently, more and more car manufacturers are coming out with upgraded stereo options that make high-wattage claims. What is important to remember is that the ratings displayed are usually a bit... optimistic. The 100 watts that the window sticker brags about probably translates into something like 4 channels of power at 25 watts peak power per channel. This means that the factory system is actually supplying about 10 watts per channel of continuous power (a more usable measurement). That's not bad, but most aftermarket decks provide around 22 watts of continuous power per channel: that's more than twice as much clean power getting to your speakers — delivering improved sound and increased volume. Even if the power difference doesn't matter all that much to you, aftermarket stereos offer a wide variety of advantages also. These include compatibility with aftermarket upgrades like CD changers, amplifiers and high-tech toys like MP3 changers, or mobile video systems and nice features like detachable face security and enhanced displays. They also give you the reliability of a recognized audio brand, which gives you peace of mind.

  3. Window Tinting

We are your tint and sound specialists!

Can you tint my windows in wet or cold weather conditions?

Absolutely!  With the modern adhesives found in today's window tinting products, you can tint your vehicle even in the most freezing conditions without having to worry.  However, the curing time may be extended during extreme conditions.  Our professional installers will ensure that they take more time to apply heat to the edges of the tint to activate and expedite the drying process.  Make sure to purchase high quality, name brand products to maximize the life of your tint!

What causes window tinting to bubble and how can I fix it?

V rays from the sun that are responsible for damaging your cars interior and excessive heat build-up are usually the cause of bubbles forming in the window tint.  The bubbles are a result of a failure in the adhesive system.  Protect yourself from this potential problem by purchasing a major brand name window tint material.  The major window tint manufacturers, in their high performance and metal window tints, have  a high temperature adhesive system and 99% of UV protection capabilities, which along with the metalizing technology, allows them to give a manufacture backed guarantee against bubbling of window tinting.  These films are available from most reputable dealers such as ourselves.

How durable is the tinting on windows?

One question asked thousands of times about durability is, "Will my kids tear it up?"  We are glad to report this is not a problem.  Pets are also a concern but damage is usually confined to smudges that just need to be cleaned.  The hard scratch-resistant coating found on quality window tint products do an excellent job protecting window tint from everyday use as well as kids and pets.  A word of caution is to remember window tinting is installed on the inside of the glass and is usually coated with a high quality scratch resistant layer for protection.  However, the key word is "resistant".  Take care when loading and unloading objects with sharp or hard edges, boxes, sporting equipment, etc.  It is possible to tear even the best window tinting material with a sharp or hard object hitting against the tint.  Glass without tinting, or with factory window tint; can be damaged in this fashion also.  Remember if you accidentally damage a window, the cost of replacing the window tinting material on one window is not that expensive.
